Celebrating Legacies of Service

Created to honor those who embody the spirit of service as a lifelong promise to the Moreno Valley College community, the MVC Legacy Award recognizes outstanding leadership, service, stewardship, and commitment to social justice in the Inland Empire. Each recipient has a proven record of impact in the Inland Empire, having worked tirelessly to transform our communities by advancing the region's educational and socio-economic needs through civic or educational leadership.

Reflecting MVC's Mission

Moreno Valley College is committed to educating and empowering individuals in our community by providing access to educational opportunities. Our institutional mission embodies a deep commitment to education, empowerment, equity, and service. We answer the call to service through neighborliness, embrace diversity, and assist in the social and economic development of Inland region. We are proud to prepare our students, provide service-learning activities, and seek to enhance our communities by supporting educational opportunity and physical and emotional well-being.

Presentation and Recognition

Legacy awards are presented each year at the College's Dolores Huerta and Cesar E. Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship breakfasts.

Nomination

We invite you to nominate individuals who you believe should be recognized for a long career as community leaders, champions of social justice, or who have had a positive impact on MVC or the Moreno Valley region.

Criteria include:

  • Length of time in role(s)
  • Championship of policies or financial contributions towards a social justice cause
  • Championship or support of education
  • Exemplifies community leadership and has made an impact to the MVC community and/or region
  • Length of service
