Parking

Parking is free on Commencement Day. Some restrictions apply. No permits are required except for staff or designated handicap spaces (placard required). Plan to arrive early to ensure available parking.

  • General parking is available in lots lots A, B, C or D, near the front of the campus. You will be required to walk to College Park to reach the Commencement staging area.
  • Accessible and VIP parking is available in Parking Lot E. Accessible parking requires a disability parking placard or plate. VIP parking is for designated individuals participating in the Ceremony. To reach Parking Lot E, please take Mechanical Drive and drive behind the campus. Access via College Park will be blocked. Mechanical Drive starts in Parking Lot A, in front of the Library Building.
  • City and state parking laws still apply. Where possible, avoid parking in the nearby neighborhoods so as to not disturb residents. Avoid parking at red curbs so as to not obstruct emergency vehicles. Vehicles parking at red curbs are subject to citation.
  • Parking will be crowded and MVC encourages carpooling and ride sharing. Graduates are expected to arrive before any guests to check in, so please transportation in advance. The ride share pick-up and drop-off location is at Lasselle Elementary, 26446 Krameria Ave., Moreno Valley, CA 92555. Lasselle Elementary is down the street from the College and adjacent to the Commencement fields. We ask that students and guests do not take ride shares to or from campus proper so as to decrease traffic congestion and pedestrian traffic in parking lots. Exiting in vehicles after the ceremony may be a long process, and the drop-off and pick-up location being offsite may also decrease your ride costs.

Accessible Parking is available in Parking Lot E, which must be accessed via Mechanical Drive on the west side of campus. General Parking is available at the front of campus. The Commencement staging area is at College Park.
Accessible parking is available in Parking Lot E, which must be accessed via Mechanical Drive on the Northwest (left) side of campus. You may request a map or directions. A disability placard or plate is required for accessible parking. General parking is available at the front and right side of campus in Parking Lots A, B, C and D. The Commencement Ceremony staging area is at College Park.

Health and Safety

Although Moreno Valley College does not anticipate any security problems during Commencement, we will be taking special measures to ensure the safety of everyone who attends Commencement.

These policies are subject to change without notice.

  • Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia.
  • Animals except for service animals (guide dogs).
  • Weapons of any kinds including firearms and knives.
  • Alcohol and tobacco products (cigarettes, vape pens, etcetera) is prohibited on the premises. MVC is a smoke free campus!

Be prepared for a warm day at Commencement

The Commencement Ceremony is an outdoor event. Since it occurs during June, guests should be prepared for warm weather. Please bring sunscreen, a hat or other method to provide shade, water, and any needed gear to deal with potential inclement weather. Dress with an eye to the weather, temperature and comfort.

Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty. Do not wait for the day of the event to get hydrated and avoid drinks with caffeine. Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing.

In hot weather, your body cools itself mainly by sweating. The evaporation of your sweat regulates your body temperature. However, when you exercise strenuously or otherwise overexert in hot, humid weather, your body is less able to cool itself efficiently.

As a result, your body may develop heat cramps, the mildest form of heat-related illness. Signs and symptoms of heat cramps usually include heavy sweating, fatigue, thirst and muscle cramps. Prompt treatment usually prevents heat cramps from progressing to heat exhaustion.

You usually can treat heat cramps by drinking fluids or sports drinks containing electrolytes (Gatorade, Powerade, others), getting into cooler temperatures, such as an air-conditioned or shaded place, and resting.

By preparing yourself in advance for a warm day, your body will be ready and you will have an enjoyable day.
