Julio Hernandez

Maintenance Mechanic

Julio Hernandez is the September 2026 recipient of the CLASSY Award in recognition of his contributions to the functioning of campus infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and other essential building systems critical to the college's daily operations. His commitment to continuously expanding his knowledge has made him a trusted resource to the Facilities Department and the entire campus community.

Recognize Your Colleagues

Great work deserves to be celebrated. Employees and students are encouraged to nominate classified professionals who make a positive impact at Moreno Valley College through service, collaboration, leadership, and support for others.

Employees eligible for the CLASSY Classified Employee of the Month award must:

  • Be a full-time or permanent part-time classified employee
  • Have worked at Moreno Valley College for at least one year
  • Have no disciplinary actions within the past 12 months
  • Not have received an Employee of the Month award within the past 12 months

Classified managers are not eligible for this award.

Nominations are accepted monthly from employees and students who would like to recognize a classified professional making a positive impact at MVC.

Anyone may submit a nomination using the nomination form, including:

  • Faculty
  • Classified professionals
  • Administrators
  • Students
  1. The Classified Employee Recognition Committee reviews all nominations and selects the monthly recipient based on the information submitted. 
  2. The selected employee's name is then forwarded to the MVC President’s Office for final acknowledgement. In the event of a tie, the MVC President will make the final selection.
  3. Committee members nominated for the award will be recused from the selection process during that cycle.

Throughout the year, Sandra has consistently gone above and beyond in support of our students, faculty, and staff. Her volunteer service during commencement ceremonies demonstrated her willingness to contribute wherever needed to ensure our graduates' accomplishments were celebrated with the dignity and excellence they deserve.

In her role supporting faculty in the Office of Instruction, Sandra has become a trusted and dependable resource. Her professionalism, responsiveness, and unwavering dedication enable faculty to focus on teaching and student success while providing outstanding support across the division.

Sandra's commitment extends well beyond her regular responsibilities. Whether working extended hours, assisting colleagues, supporting campus-wide programs, or stepping in wherever help is needed, she exemplifies teamwork, service, and a genuine commitment to the success of Moreno Valley College. Her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile have made a meaningful impact on departments and initiatives across our campus.

As the first-ever recipient of the CLASSY Award for Service Excellence, Sandra has established a remarkable standard for what it means to lead through service, integrity, and compassion. Her dedication inspires us all and reflects the very best of our college community.

For more than 20 years, James has quietly and consistently gone above and beyond in support of students, faculty, staff, and fellow colleagues. His extensive technical expertise, professionalism, and willingness to help others have made a lasting impact across the college community.

Much of James’s impact occurs behind the scenes, where he works collaboratively with colleagues across departments to develop effective solutions that support teaching, learning, and campus operations. Through his technical expertise, dedication, and willingness to go the extra mile, he helps create reliable and sustainable systems that benefit our whole college community. His contributions may not always be visible, but they play a vital role in maintaining an environment where others can succeed and focus on their work without interruption.

Equally impressive is James’s commitment to supporting others. He generously shares his knowledge with coworkers, colleagues, and consistently looks for ways to improve processes and outcomes. Whether managing complex technical projects, supporting instructional programs at Ben Clark Training Center, or assisting team members with challenging issues, James approaches every task with humility, accountability, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

James’s efforts directly support Moreno Valley College’s mission by enhancing the technology and services that enable student success, fostering collaboration across departments, and ensuring that staff and students have the tools they need to thrive. His dedication, innovation, and selfless service exemplify the very best of our college community.
