Medical assistants perform administrative and limited clinical duties under the direction of physicians. MVC offers two pathways to earning associate degrees and certificates in medical assisting, allowing students to focus on administrative and clinical skills or to specialize in medical transcription.

This program prepares individuals to provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, preexamination and examination assistance, administration of medications, and first aid under the supervision of a physician.
Students receive instruction in basic anatomy and physiology; medical terminology; medical law and ethics; patient psychology and communications; medical office procedures; and clinical/diagnostic examination, testing, and treatment procedures.
