The Board of Trustees of the Riverside Community College District (RCCD) appointed Angelo Jackson as RCCD Police Sergeant for Moreno Valley College on Tuesday, August 19. Jackson brings more than two decades of law enforcement experience and a deep connection to the college community.

Jackson began his career in public safety with the Riverside Community College District in 2011. A lifelong learner, he earned his associate degree after taking classes at Riverside City College in 2005, reflecting his long-standing commitment to the mission of community colleges and support for student success.

“I am honored to serve Moreno Valley College in this new capacity,” Jackson said. “Supporting our students, employees, and campus community has been a central part of my career, and I look forward to continuing that mission as sergeant.”

Jackson, originally from Detroit, Michigan, has served as a police officer for over 20 years, including assignments with the Beaumont Police Department in the detective’s bureau, where he wrote search warrants and participated in the Adopt-A-Cop program for local middle schools. He also served as a corporal and crime prevention specialist with the Department of Public Safety at Chapman University, bringing expertise in field training, taser instruction, 21st-century policing, implicit bias, and procedural justice.

In addition to his law enforcement experience, Jackson has taught college courses in Introduction to Criminal Justice and Corrections, mentoring students while advising the Student Conduct Board and serving on Student Life search committees. His work has been recognized through multiple awards, including a DUI MADD award, Employee of the Year honors at Moreno Valley College, and letters of commendation for crime investigations and student mentorship.

Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in organizational leadership. Outside of work, he is an active member of the community, coaching little league baseball and girls basketball, painting murals, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He and his spouse are parents to six adult children, grandparents to four grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way.

“Sergeant Jackson exemplifies the professionalism, leadership, and dedication that define our Safety and Police Department,” said President Rudy Besikof, Ed.D. “His experience and commitment to our students make him the ideal choice to lead and strengthen our public safety team.”
