LaTonya Parker, Ed.D., professor of counseling services at Moreno Valley College, has been elected president of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) for the 2025–26 academic year.

A full-time faculty member with Riverside Community College District since 2007, Parker brings nearly three decades of experience in higher education and more than 10 years of statewide leadership to the role. Her service on the ASCCC Executive Board includes terms as vice president, secretary, and multiple regional representative positions.

Sharaf Williams, Ed.D., dean of counseling and specially funded programs at Moreno Valley College, shared the news, stating, “She has been an excellent representative of MVC and RCCD and will continue to do so in this capacity.”

Parker’s leadership reflects a long-standing commitment to equity, shared governance, and faculty advocacy. Her work has included partnerships with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, curriculum reform, and major statewide initiatives such as Guided Pathways and dual enrollment.

The ASCCC, founded in 1970, serves as the official voice of California community college faculty in academic and professional matters. The organization advocates for inclusive, student-centered policies and strengthening local academic senates across the state.
