State Assemblymember Corey Jackson Visits College's iMAKE STEM Innovation Center
California State Assemblymember Corey Jackson, District 60, visited Moreno Valley College's (MVC) iMAKE STEM Innovation Center and Makerspace in December, touring the state-of-the-art facility and meeting with students, faculty, and employees.
The iMAKE STEM Innovation Center is a hub for creativity, collaboration, and technological advancement, offering students and the broader Inland Empire community access to industry-standard tools, equipment, and cutting-edge software. It serves as a hands-on learning space where individuals can design, create, and innovate, supporting class projects, personal hobbies, and entrepreneurial ventures.
During the visit, Jackson praised the Center's impact on education and community progress.
“The iMAKE STEM Innovation Center is a model for how innovation and hands-on learning can drive educational excellence and community progress,” Jackson said. “Seeing the creativity and ambition of students using these resources reaffirms the importance of providing access to advanced technology and collaborative spaces. This is how we cultivate the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers, and entrepreneurs right here in Moreno Valley and Riverside Community College District.”
FeRita Carter, interim president of MVC, echoed Jackson's remarks, emphasizing the Center's role in preparing students for future success.
"The iMAKE STEM Innovation Center is a vital catalyst for reshaping how we prepare students for the future," said Carter. "By equipping them with the tools and skills they need today, we're ensuring they have the confidence and capability to lead and innovate tomorrow, not just in the classroom, but in their communities and careers."
Assemblymember Jackson engaged with students who demonstrated prototypes, digital designs, and creative projects developed at the center. He commended the Center's ability to inspire imagination and cultivate ingenuity that drives economic and social progress.
The iMAKE STEM Innovation Center continues to empower the Inland Empire community, preparing participants to tackle tomorrow's challenges and opportunities.
