About

Frederick Jones, MSW is the Director of Moreno Valley College's College Corps grant. A Compton, CA native, he relocated to the Inland Empire in his teens and graduated from Perris High soon after. Jones began his education journey at Moreno Valley College, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the campus newspaper.

Jones received a master’s in social work from the University of Southern California, where he served as co-chair of the Black Caucus. He previously served at San Bernardino Valley College’s as coordinator and adjunct counselor for the Umoja-Tumaini Academy, an effort he created and that focuses on the academic success for students in STEM, Certificates, and associate degrees. He also spent two years as SBVC's College Corps program specialist, during which he developed a College Corps/Umoja host site to serve student volunteers on campus ranging from Umoja students to Dreamers.

Jones has won multiple awards for his advocacy for students and efforts in closing gaps within higher education, including Outstanding Community Leader from Rotaract’s Inland Empire District.
