This year’s National Student Employment Week is April 7-13, 2024

The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declares the second full week of April to be a celebration week of Student Employees. It was established to recognize the student work experience, the invaluable contributions and key role our student employees play in the success of our campus operations. We encourage supervisors, faculty and staff to take advantage of this time to celebrate your student employees.

  • Treat Week – goodie bags, snacks, or an appreciation potluck
  • Fun Day – play games, create fun awards, small gifts or a personalized thank you note
  • Decorate the work space
  • Recognize your student employees in your department newsletter, website, or staff meeting
  • Whatever it may be, Get Creative!

Student Employee Spotlights

Some of our department supervisors would like to spotlight a few of their student employees for the 2023-2024 academic year. These students have shown growth and initiative in their respective roles, provided excellent customer service, and have added value to their departments.

Leon Seitz, Engagement Center Peer Mentor

“Leon is the dependable backbone of our Peer Mentor team within the Engagement Centers. With a work ethic that's second to none, Leon consistently rises to the occasion, delivering reliability and high-quality work day in and day out. Whether it's meeting deadlines, tackling

challenging tasks, or having new employees shadow him, Leon can always be counted on to go above and beyond. His reliability isn't just a trait, it's a guarantee, making him an essential part of our team.”

Erwin Yap, Engagement Center Peer Mentor

“Erwin has grown significantly as a Peer Mentor and is has been truly special to witness him come out of his shell, becoming a leader and example on the team today. Notably, when new faces joined our team this semester (24Spring), Erwin didn't just sit back – he stepped up and took initiative by eagerly mentoring our new team members, ensuring they felt welcomed and equipped from day one. Erwin didn't just teach tasks; he instilled confidence and camaraderie, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere within our team. His proactive approach not only streamlined the onboarding process but also strengthened the bonds that hold our team together. Erwin truly embodies the spirit of collaboration and exemplifies what it means to be a team player.”
