Moreno Valley City Council Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Proclamation to Moreno Valley College
During a special presentation on Jan. 21, the Moreno Valley City Council recognized Jan. 20, 2025, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, presenting a proclamation to Moreno Valley College (MVC). FeRita Carter, interim president of MVC, accepted the honor on behalf of the College in a ceremony held at City Hall Council Chamber.
Mayor Pro Tem Elena Baca-Santa Cruz, who presented the proclamation on behalf of Mayor Ulises Cabrera, is also an employee of the Riverside Community College District (RCCD), serving at Riverside City College. Her dual role in the City and RCCD highlights her dedication to public service and community education.
"We are deeply grateful to the Moreno Valley City Council for recognizing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day during the same week as our MLK Scholarship Ceremony," said FeRita Carter. "This proclamation represents our shared commitment to honoring Dr. King's legacy and his vision of equality and justice for all."
The special presentation occurred at 5:30 pm, preceding the regular City Council meeting at 6 pm. City officials, community leaders, and college members attended the event, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between MVC and the City of Moreno Valley.
