About

I have been a full-time professor in the psychology department since 2021. I began my higher education journey as a first-generation college student at Clovis Community College. I then transferred to California State University, Fresno, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology. Afterwards, I received my Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology (health and well-being emphasis) from the University of California, Riverside.
During my graduate studies at UCR, I conducted research on how people can effectively cope with stress, with a particular interest in time perception and flow states. I also taught several courses and worked for the University Teaching Certificate Program designing curriculum for instructors across the campus, conducting teaching observations, and evaluating teaching portfolios.
My passion for teaching led me to MVC where I taught as a part-time faculty for nearly two years. As an instructor of Introduction to Psychology, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, and Psychological Research Methods, I encourage students to find creative ways to connect to the material, build the skills to answer their own scientific questions, and learn through collaborative discussions. It is also important to me that students see their time in class as an opportunity for growth. As a life-long learner myself, my past and future students continuously inspire me to also grow as an instructor. I look forward to seeing you in class and supporting you as you navigate your own academic journey!
