About

I have 25+ years experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. I am a product of the California Community College system. I have attended LASC, ELAC, WLAC, LATT. In addition, I have also attended UCI, CSUDH, and UOP. I hold an Associate's of Arts in Liberal Studies/Child Development, a BS in Human Services, and a Masters in Behavioral Psychology. Early Childhood Education is my passion.

I believe in facilitating a learning environment that emulates the course policies. The success of students in any one of my courses is important to me. I teach with an emphasis on bringing theory together with practice, informed by my 25 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. I aim to help you think beyond the textbook, and connect you with some of the real-life examples that have helped shape my career. What excites me about teaching is that I can share my knowledge with current and future educators. Teaching helps me prepare future educators to teach our youngest learners across various cities and states.

Participation and liberation from oppression are important goals in my courses. I encourage my students to actively engage in dialogue with me so that I am able to learn from them, just as they are learning from me. As a woman of color, I understand the challenges of being oppressed and confined to not speaking my voice because of what others may think. My courses are not an environment where your voice and your thoughts will be censored or silenced. I encourage you to share what your specific needs are. We will explore strategies and concepts to assist you with being successful in the course as well as preparing you to help students and their families understand that they also have a voice.

I currently teach EAR-19, EAR-20, EAR-26, EAR-28 and EAR-42.
