Moreno Valley College Student Lands a Seat
In Temecula's Legal Scholars Summer Program
Janell Mercado, a Moreno Valley College student, earned a seat in the city of Temecula's 4th Annual Legal Scholars Summer Program. An Administration of Justice major, Mercado, 20, is a first-generation college student who hopes to become an attorney.
The Legal Scholars Program provides students interested in the field of law with the opportunity to advance and strengthen their legal aspirations. The program allows students to network with members of the legal community and provide students with the opportunity to experience court proceedings. The program runs from July until August with three sessions per week.
"My grandmother always told me college would be the way in which I would save myself from the hard road," Mercado said.
And the road has been hard for Mercado who graduated from Adult Valley High School in Lake Elsinore in 2017.
"College has shown me that it's you, yourself who can take you to great places," she said. "Thanks to a community with such great professors (I now have) countless opportunities to improve my life."
