Moreno Valley College Welcomes New Faculty


Moreno Valley College President Sandra Mayo welcomed five new faculty members for the start of the fall semester: Robert Loya in Computer Information Science and Business, Geography instructor Anya-Kristina Marquis, Jennifer Floerke in Communication Studies, and Physician Assistant instructors Paul Rogers and Vasco Kidd.

Loya, a former adjunct faculty at Mt. San Antonio and Chaffey colleges, holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Phoenix in Business/Information Systems. An industry veteran until turning his attention to teaching in 2012, he has worked for Chevron, Venpro, and Watson Pharmaceuticals, and as the director of a NSF-ATE Grant between Mt. SAC and Cal Poly Pomona.

Marquis taught the last eight years as an adjunct faculty member at Moreno Valley College, Mt. San Jacinto College, and Julian Charter School in Murrieta. She holds a bachelor's degree from UCLA in Geography and a master's degree from Cal State Fullerton. A former staffer for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, Marquis began her teaching career at Great Oak and Chaparral high schools.

Floerke is a Moreno Valley College alumna who earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Communication Studies from California State University, San Bernardino. She previously taught as an adjunct faculty member at all three RCCD colleges and Mt. San Jacinto.

Rogers is a product of the MVC Physician Assistant program (class of 2008). He holds a bachelor's degree from Trident University and two associate degrees from Mt. San Jacinto. A Navy veteran, Rogers served a tour with the In Port Emergency Response Team. He has 13 years experience in emergency medicine and continues to serve as a Physician Assistant 1st Lieutenant in the California Air National Guard 163rd MDG out of March Air Reserve Base. He also is a volunteer firefighter with the California Department of Forestry.

Kidd has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Physician Assistant program since 2013. He holds a doctorate in Health Sciences as well as two master's degrees - one from UCLA in Public Health and another from Western University of Health Sciences. His professional experience includes stints at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and San Antonio Orthopedic Group. Kidd served as an assistant professor and academic coordinator at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, TX.
