Moreno Valley College Announces
Cesar Chavez Scholarship Breakfast
Moreno Valley College will host a Cesar Chavez Scholarship Breakfast on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 7 a.m. in the Student Academic Services building. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit MVC's scholarship fund.
Sponsorship opportunities are available through the Riverside Community College District Foundation at (951) 222-8627. Tickets for the breakfast are $25 and available at (951) 571-6358. On-campus event parking is free.
The theme of the breakfast is ¡Sí Se Puede! (Yes We Can).
"The Cesar Chavez breakfast gives the Inland Empire community a chance to celebrate a man who not only strengthened labor and human rights but also spoke of how education could empower and build stronger communities," said Greg Sandoval, vice president of Student Services. "At Moreno Valley College we strive to make his dream a reality every day."
As part of the celebration, MVC students are encouraged to participate in the Cesar Chavez Visual Arts Competition. This year's theme is "Cesar Chavez and Education." Entries will be accepted in five categories: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and video. For more information, log on to the Cesar Chavez Events page. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded for the winning entries.
